With web applications being constantly under attack from malicious programs the BROWSEC project, co-ordinated at The Technical University of Vienna with an ERC consolidator grant, aims to develop a holistic approach to client-side web security.
It intends to prevent dangerous information flows by treating the internet browser as a “Blackbox” and monitoring and intercepting inputs and outputs thus creating the first client-side tool to secure web applications. BROWSEC will be a multidisciplinary research effort which promises breakthrough advancements in a number of disciplines including web security, software engineering and program verification.
